P1&2 Getting Ready for Big Bird Watch π¦
This year our school is going to be taking part in the RSPB Big Bird Watch. We have also been talking about how winter can be a hard time for the little birds to get food, as there aren't many berries growing on the trees and the ground is frozen solid or covered in snow, making it really hard for the birds to get worms and insects.
So in preparation for the Big Bird watch and to help out the hungry birds, P1&2 have made some bird feeders. It was a messy job but the girls and boys had lots of fun making them. We used oats, margarine, bird seeds and some dried fruit. We mixed it altogether using our hands, then squashed it into some jam jar lids which we will hang off the trees in our school garden. We had some mixture left over so we made some fat balls for the birds to eat too.
We are looking forward to seeing what birds come to our school to eat their tasty treats π
