Numeracy

CUISENAIRE RODS

The Train Game - Resources – Number Cards in bag (please cut up at home) and Cuisenaire rods.

Activity - Place the cards face down on the table.  Player 1 turns over a card.  Player 1 says the number shown on the card and then selects the corresponding rod for that number, e.g. if it is number five select the yellow rod.  Player 2 then turns over a card and selects their corresponding rod.  Each player does this 6 times.  Each player sets their rods out in a straight line.  They compare the length of their ‘train’ of rods to their partner.  The player with the longest ‘train’ wins.
