Hello everyone,

I hope you had a lovely weekend 😊

Please see below for home reinforcement:

LITERACY

JOLLY PHONICS - Reinforcement of letter sound ‘c/k’ taught at school today:

Look at sound worksheet for ‘c/k’ found in your Jolly Phonics book in your child’s bag - colour the sound sheet and practise writing 'c/k' on opposite page.

Do the action and sing the song for ‘c/k’ with your child and help your child learn this sound.

Think of things / names beginning with this sound

Play ‘I Spy’ with items beginning with this sound.

JOLLY PHONICS GAMES -Your child has a game in their bag tonight to consolidate sounds so far.  It will be a Pairs or Lotto game.  Please play this to consolidate phase 1 sounds

  • Blending Game (see P1 games envelope – variation on last week’s Pairs Game – see enclosed note inside game to extend this activity)
  • Lotto Game (see P1 games envelope – slight variation this week where you use the word to cover the picture on the lotto board as opposed to just the beginning sound, use the sound to predict what the word is)

Your child will have one of the above games in their bag (with new instructions) – please keep games in bag so games can be renewed

**Continue to practise all sounds covered so far to ensure they are retained**

Numeracy

Continue practising writing numbers 1-5 taking care numbers are formed correctly as some of us are still occasionally writing numbers like '5' and '2' backwards.

READING

Look – reading book in your child’s bag. Please see reading record

Reading worksheet in bag too.

Tonight, your child will also have a Big Cat Book. Model to children how you point at the words as you read along.  Ask them to point at the words as they read.  Use the repetition of the text and the pictures to predict the words. Ask 'how many words are on each page' as children sometimes confuse what is a sound and what is a word.  Ask them to point at the longest word, first word, last word on the page.  Also point at the full stop.  Remind them that this is the end of the sentence.  In addition, you could use 'ideas for guided reading' at the back to further enrich reading times. Please keep reading books in bag so we can re-new them!

Reminders

Please return Christmas Dinner order form and money by Wednesday 23rd November.

Thank you and enjoy your evening.
