Literacy

PHONICS: 

Continue Jolly Phonic Games throughout the week to reinforce first set of sounds covered to date.

Reading:

Continue with reading book in your child’s bag - another version of 'Look.’

Please read books together and discuss using 'prompts for reading' card (attached last week.) Teaching points to start considering during reading time are:

Use the repetition and pictures to predict the text.

Look for and point out sounds we have covered so far.

Show how to point at words as they are read and encourage children to point at the words as they are read.

Ask how many words are on this page?

Ask them to point at the first word, last word, longest word, full stop etc.

 Numeracy

Numbers to 5 w/s in bag

MONEY TOPIC - this week we are learning about money. Look at coins with your child.  Let them touch them, talk about them, find the number on them and sort /play with them. Visit the following site and play 'Toy Shop' (we have played this at school) - select 'one coin' and then select '1p up to 10p' tab for P1 level

CUISENAIRE RODS - Continue the Train Game from last week to help you learn value of the rods, e.g. yellow rod is 5.
