 LITERACY

JOLLY PHONICS - Reinforcement of letter sound ‘e' taught at school today:

Look at and complete sound worksheet for ‘e’ found in your child’s bag and practise writing 'e.' Do the action for ‘e’ with your child, sing the song and help your child learn this sound;

Think of things / names beginning with this sound. Play ‘I Spy’ with items beginning with this sound.

**Continue to practise all sounds covered so far to ensure they are retained**

Numeracy

Continue practising writing numbers 1-5 taking care numbers are formed correctly as some of us are still occasionally writing numbers like '5' and '2' backwards.

READING 

See new reading book in your child’s bag. New Ginn Book this week - 'Here'.  There are some new words to learn in this book but don't worry we will be playing games and doing lots of activities to help develop visual recall of these words.  When reading 'Here' this week please ask your child to track the text with their finger as they read.  Also ask how many words are on each page as children sometimes confuse what is a sound and what is a word.  Ask them to point at the longest word, first word, last word on the page.  Also point at the full stop.  Remind them that this is the end of the sentence. Please keep reading books in bag!

**We had a very special assembly this morning. Sr. Patricia came to visit our school, to say a massive thank you to all the boys and girls in St. Anne’s, to the parents, grandparents and family members that have shown such generosity to her over the years. To show how grateful she is Sr. Patricia very kindly gave all of the boys and girls special souvenirs from Peru. We heard some stories about the school Sr. Patricia works in and the village she lives in. It was lovely to hear about the difference our fundraising has helped to make. Thank you to everyone who has continued to support our fundraising for Sr. Patricia!!**
