LITERACY
JOLLY PHONICS - Reinforcement of letter sound ‘h' taught at school today:
Look at and complete sound worksheet for ‘h’ found in your child’s bag and practise writing 'h'.
Do the action for ‘h’ with your child, sing the song and help your child learn this sound.
Think of things / names beginning with this sound.
Play ‘I Spy’ with items beginning with this sound.
**Continue to practise all sounds covered so far to ensure they are retained**

and listen to Mr Mc go over 's' and 'a' sound. He also goes over blending sounds to hear words and blending sounds to read words. This is very useful and well worth a watch.
Numeracy
Ensure you are confident with reading, writing and counting to 5 before we introduce our new number 6 tomorrow.
READING
New reading book in your child’s bag - 'Help'. There are some new words to learn in this book but don't worry we will be playing games and doing lots of activities to help develop visual recall of these words. When reading 'Help' this week please ask your child to track the text with their finger as they read. Ask them to point at the longest word, first word, last word on the page. Also point at the full stop. Remind them that this is the end of the sentence. Please keep reading books in bag!
*GRANDPARENTS' DAY*
In preparation of 'Grandparents' Day' on Wednesday 1st February 2023 I would be grateful if you could send in a photograph of one of your child's grandparents. Your child will use this to talk and write about their grandparent. It would also be very helpful if you could help them prepare TWO simple sentences about their chosen grandparent and enclose this with the photograph.
E.g. I love you granny ______(name). I love (baking buns with you / playing with you / sleepovers with you) or you are special because ______________.
N.B. This will be an annual lesson so pupils will have the opportunity to speak / write about a different Grandparent next year. The photograph you send of their chosen Grandparent will be photocopied and returned to you. You can of course send the photograph and few words by email if easier.
