Hello everyone,

It was great to see you all back today after our Mid-term break

Please see below for tonight’s homework:

LITERACY

JOLLY PHONICS - new sound o.

Complete worksheet (writing sound and colour pictures) and practise writing 'o' in Jolly Phonics Book. Take care to form 'o' correctly, starting with a 'c' shape. Carry out usual Jolly Phonic Activities to help children learn these sounds and form these letters.  Continue to revise and revisit sounds regularly, which we have covered to date to ensure they are retained.

PHONICS ONLINE – Introduction of new sound ‘o’ by Mr Mc.

Mr Mc begins with ‘what’s in the box’ Mr Mc blends some sounds for you to listen and see if you can hear the word and guess what’s in the box (he is making longer words this week so listen carefully.)  Next, he reviews some sounds using flashcards.  Can you say the sounds you know? You don’t know all of them yet.   About 7.45 minutes in Mr Mc introduces our new sound o.  Mr Mc will ask you to say and do things.  Make sure you listen and watch carefully and join in with Mr Mc.  He shows you how to blend to read some ‘o’ words and also demonstrates how to write o’. Finally, he ends with the Masked Singer challenge

READING – GUIDED READING / HIGH FREQUENCY PRACTICE

WORDS FIRST READING - You will find a reading book in your bag called ‘This is Me’ from the Words First reading scheme. We will be using books from this scheme to help us to learn high frequency words.  These are words that appear frequently in text.  Many of these words are ‘tricky words’ (cannot be sounded out) so we need to see and read them often so we memorise them.  Parents please read ‘This is Me’ to your child, discussing the pictures and storyline and answering the questions as you go along.  As you go along point out any words you recognise from your Ginn books or practise reading words that can be sounded out.

GINN READING - Keep practising your flashcards 1.1 - 1.5 before we start our new Ginn Book.

Have a lovely evening 😊

Many thanks,

Miss Lynn
