Hello everyone,

Please see below for ideas for tonight’s homework:

JOLLY PHONICS  new sound ‘u’ (see Jolly Phonic book)

Carry out usual Jolly Phonic Activity to help children learn this sound and form this letter.  Continue to revise and revisit sounds regularly using attached Jolly Phonic Table.  Remember, to keep practising correct formation of letters.

READING - NEW ACTIVITY - Practise skill of blending sounds together by reading words on laminated strip of words from Jolly Phonics (word list is in your child’s bag).  This can be broken down to practise a few words each night.

READING BOOK 1 - New Ginn Book - 'A New Home' - Read throughout this week.  Also keep practising all flashcards in your pack (1.1 - 1.6)

READING BOOK 2 – ‘This is Me’ – Continue to read a few pages each night. These ‘Words First’ Books contain the key ‘high frequency’ words pupils need to know. The words are repeated over and over in the book in the hope that pupils will commit them to memory by ‘sight’.  Many of these key words are ‘tricky words’ (they cannot be sounded out and need to be memorised and learnt by seeing them often).

WORLD BOOK DAY

Dressing up for World Book Day – Dress up as your favourite book character/ in your favourite clothes

Take a picture reading your favourite book in a strange place

Many thanks,

Enjoy the rest of your evening 😊
